The following benchmarks compare specific references or manual calculations with the results obtained by SCIA Engineer.
Stress - 1D bridge
This benchmark concerns calculation of stress in top and bottom fibres on arbitrary cross-section (simple bridge) from linear combination.
Loads are defined directly from not calculated internal forces. Linear combinations are defined directly according reference.
Program calculates normal stress and stress from bending moments in selected cuts (in the middle first and second span and up the first internal support) for top or bottom fibres and shows it in graphical window or in document. Reference describes design of prestressed bridge according EC. In reference results there is for example calculation for combination CO1 and results for all other relevant combinations on the bridge.

A series of benchmarks is made to compare the results of the concrete functionality of SCIA Engineer with manual calculations.
Examples of the reference 'Eurocode 2 - Worked Examples' (published by the European Concrete Platform ASBL) are used.

In these documents, the results of SCIA Engineer concerning the Steel Code Check according to EN 1993 are compared to benchmark projects. A total of 43 benchmarks are evaluated for EN 1993-1-1, EN 1993-1-2 and EN 1993-1-3. In addition some benchmarks include parts of EN 1993-1-5.

The functionality to design timber structures according to Eurocode 5 is available in SCIA Engineer.
It allows the user to perform a slenderness check and the necessary checks in the ULS and SLS. The Autodesign function gives the user the opportunity to optimize timber cross-sections to obtain the best economical and safety guaranteed solution.
