User-defined checks integrated in SCIA Engineer
Version 14 of SCIA Engineer offers users the possibility to implement their own engineering calculations and use these as plug-in checks during their everyday work with CAE projects -- e.g. in a graphical review of overall capacity in a 3D structure, in an AutoDesign optimisation, and in reporting. Design checks related to:
- the resistance or stability of members with irregular geometry, or of members made from new materials,
- the adequacy of section size and reinforcement area according to local standards which we do not currently support,
- foundation checks based on sophisticated deformation theories,

Automatic mesh refinement
SCIA Engineer 14 offers new feature - Automatic mesh refinement. Fine mesh of finite elements produces more accurate result than coarse mesh. Manual finding of fine mesh is sometimes very hard task for a user. He have to define all needed parameters (e.g. ratio for mesh refinement) and select from suggested method. Therefore, we are releasing the new method for automatic mesh refinement. Our solution reflects state of the art in a-posteriori error estimate methods. Check of singularity
Check of singularity brings to user possibility to check if his model is instable and/or has not some translations or rotations. Not connected members are also detected. Check is also suitable to use for detection of problem with cross-links. Read more...
Confirmation question before deleting results
It may have happened to you ... All calculated results suddenly disappeared from the SCIA Engineer project, without notification or 'undo' option. It could happen after only a small modification to the construction model or its boundary conditions. It could be unpleasant, especially when the calculation took a long time or when the modification was unintended.

Table Results is a new functionality that allows the user to view results in tabulated form. Table Results displays a wide range of calculated items, including FEM results for nodes, 1D and 2D members, the outcome of design checks, and others.

3D results - Displacements & stresses
SCIA Engineer 14.0 brings the presentation of results to a new level: 3D! Displacements and stresses can now be displayed on the 3D rendered surface of columns and beams. On top of that, the results may be projected on the initial as well as the deformed structure. Engineering Report templates
As of SCIA Engineer 2013.0 we have a new, modern and easy to use Engineering Report in our beloved software, packed with powerful features.
Missing and highly prioritized by clients however was the possibility to store a report as a template and reuse it in a later project.

Design Forms in Engineering Report
Design Forms was one of the major novelties last year. As you know, Design Forms is a stand alone tool, complementary to SCIA Engineer, and focusses on small and dedicated calculationswith a clear and transparent output.
In SCIA Engineer 14 you will be able to link Design Forms for 1D members directly to SCIA Engineer. Integration of other kinds of checks will come in the near future. Still, SCIA Engineer 14 will already bring Design Forms and SCIA Engineer closer together. Read more...
The Table Input functionality simplifies both modelling and editing, and provides a versatile overview of the previously defined input in a model. The tool has been improved in version 14 of SCIA Engineer. Additional features such as filtering, clipboard support of the grid, use of parameters, new tabs, and improved management of properties speed-up the model definition while the user needs to do less graphical searching. A design group is a collection of 1D members with some identical basic properties, like member type, length and cross-section.The generation of design groups is done automatically. Its main purpose is to help the user manage the design and checking of similar members in (big) structures. Various improvements in steel design
- Additional references and descriptions have been added to the Setup for options related to the EC-EN 1990 norm as well as in the Setup for steel connection design.

The 3D model with defined subsoil and geologic profiles displays the subsoil surface. This surface defines the area where soil properties between boreholes is inter- and extra- polated.
